  • Warm Jacket – thermo storage cloth will transfer any light into heat for a more natural appeal.
  • Tin Sinker – environmentally friendly tin sinker
  • Double Crown Hooks – stainless steel hooks

  • 490 Glow was developed by Yamashita after research showed the best wavelength of visible light for the squid eye to see is 490nm.
  • UV Body – reacts to UV light (can not be charged up like a glowing body) Also known as KEIMURA.
  • Action – the tin sinker Live series will jump higher with each rod action compared to the original lead sinker jig. This gives the angler more action over a shorter distance. The side-to-side darting action is the same.

How to use a Squid Jig

Using a squid jig effectively involves a unique approach to attracting and enticing squid. Firstly, cast the squid jig out and let it sink to the desired depth. Squid jigs typically have a weighted body and multiple sharp, barbless hooks covered in cloth or plastic strands that mimic squid tentacles. Once the jig reaches the desired depth, start a series of quick, sharp jerks with your rod tip, imparting an erratic and darting action to the jig. This action imitates the movement of a distressed or fleeing squid, catching the attention of nearby squid.

Secondly, pay attention to the timing and location. Squids are more active during low-light conditions, such as early morning, late afternoon, or nighttime. Look for areas with structures or features that may attract squids, such as seagrass beds, rocky areas, or jetties. Keep an eye out for signs of squid, such as ink clouds or surface activity, and focus your efforts on those areas. Additionally, using a light source, such as a submersible fishing light or a headlamp, can attract squid and make them more likely to strike your squid jig.

Remember to vary your retrieval speed and depth to find what works best for the particular conditions and the squid's preferences. It's also essential to exercise caution when handling squid, as they have sharp beaks and can release ink. With practice and observation, you can refine your technique and increase your chances of successfully catching squid using a squid jig.
