Within the MQ (Monocoque) body lies a brand-new drive gear, significantly amplifying gear strength. This improvement amplifies the strength to more than double that of its predecessor. The drive gear's diameter has seen a remarkable 12% increase, and it features the Tough Digigear concept. This is characterized by larger and deeper cut teeth for added durability and performance.

The MQ body, with its single-piece construction, significantly bolsters the rigidity of the entire reel assembly. Furthermore, the MQ body boasts a novel rear cover design that eliminates screws from the reel's underside, improving resistance against intrusion. The improvements continue with a newly designed aluminium Air Rotor, delivering more than double the rigidity when compared to the 15 Saltiga. Despite the switch to aluminium, engineers have cleverly minimized weight increase by optimizing the rotor's shape.

The spool and drag assembly have not been overlooked, with drag pressures now reaching a remarkable 25/30kg. To accommodate this increased drag power, Daiwa engineers introduced a new drag stack, boosting drag durability by an impressive tenfold compared to the 15 Saltiga. Additionally, a newly designed aluminium Radiation Drag Knob enhances cooling and heat dissipation, surpassing its predecessor's performance. The ABS Longcast lip design enhances casting performance while strategically minimizing water intrusion under the spool.
